How to Open Demat Account Online with Zerodha - Step by Step Process.

First, you should collect all documents mentioned below for seamless account opening process.

- A scanned copy of your PAN card
- A scanned copy of Aadhar Card
- Cancelled Cheque/Bank statement to link your bank account
- A scanned copy of your signatures

There are 22 steps to follow for open Demat Account With Zerodha without any hassle.
Click on ‘Open Demat Account’ to visit Zerodha and start your account opening process.

Step 1: Enter Your Mobile Number
Enter your mobile number to get started.
You’ll receive an OTP on your Mobile number that your entered.
Ensure that mobile number is active that your entered {alertInfo}
Although, you can also find the Sign up button on the top-right corner of page.
Click on it to proceed.
Step 2: Fill the OTP
Enter the OTP (One Time Password) that your received on your Mobile number to continue.
After successful verification of the mobile
number, you will be asked for enter your email address.
Step 3: Enter your Email Address
Enter your active e-mail id for verification.
Then, enter the OTP (One Time Password) received on your e-mail if and click Continue.
Step 4: Enter Your PAN Number
Next, you have to enter your PAN card number and Date of Birth.
Ensure that you Date of birth is same on Aadhaar card and PAN card. {alertInfo}

Step 5: Pay Account Opening Fee
After verifying your PAN details, you need to pay an account opening fee.
Account opening fee for Equity in zerodha is ₹200.
Note: But, if you want to trade in Commodities you have to pay ₹100 extra. {alertInfo}
After choosing your required segment, your have to pay according to your selected segment.
You can pay through UPI or credit and debit card or Net Banking.
After, successful payment, you will receive an receipt on your registered mobile number and email id with payment reference number.
Click on Close to proceed.
Step 6: Share Aadhaar Detail with Digilocker
Next step is Aadhaar verification.
Click on ‘Connect to Digilocker' button to share a digital copy of your Aadhaar card.
Digilocker is an Government of India's Portal to save your important documents on the cloud. It is linked with your Aadhaar card. So no need to worry about security.{alertInfo}
Step 7: Sign in to Digilocker
Here, you will need to log in to Digilocker using either your Aadhaar card, Username or Mobile number.
If you don't have account with Digilocker. Just tap on sign up.
Make sure the phone number linked with your Aadhaar is active to receive an OTP. {alertInfo}
The number linked with Aadhar and the number you entered in the first step need not be the same. {alertWarning}
Step 8: Enter Digilocker OTP
Enter the OTP received on your mobile number to verify your Aadhar and proceed.
Step 9: Enter Security PIN
After successful log in, you need to set up security PIN to sign in.
In case you forget your Security Pin, click on ‘Forgot my PIN’ to create a new pin. {alertInfo}
Step 10: Share Copy of your Aadhaar
Now, give access of your Digilocker account to zerodha by clicking 'Allow' button. It automatically fetch your Aadhaar Details.
Check the details, and give confirmation br clicking ‘Share’ button.

A digital copy of your Aadhaar card will be shared with Zerodha.
Step 11: Fill your profile Details
Now, fill in your parents’ details, and your marital status. Then click ‘Continue’.
Step 12: Fill your Background Information
Fill in your background information including your Annual income, Trading experience, Occupation etc.
Now, click on continue.
Step 13: Link Bank Account
Now, you have enter your bank details to link your Bank Account with Zerodha.
This will be your primary account where you can add or withdraw funds.
Fill in the details and click Continue.
Step 14: Complete IPV (In Person Verification)
Now, you have to complete IPV (In Person Verification).
In this, your have to show the number written on your computer screen in front of your webcam.
Use front camera if you are using mobile. {alertInfo}
Now, click on 'Start IPV' button and ensure that your face and code are clearly visible.
Then, click on 'Take Video' button to start video, and finally, click on ‘SAVE IPV’ button save your video.
Step 15: Upload Cancel cheque/Bank statement
Next, upload your documents that include your bank statements/cancelled cheque.
Make sure that the bank account number, IFSC code and MICR Code are clearly visible.
Step 16: Upload Signature and Pan Card
On the same page, you have to submit the Income proof, signature, and PAN card.
Income proof is required only if you want to trade in Futures & Options, currency and commodity.
Click on Continue to proceed.
Step 17: eSign your Application
This is the last step where you have to digitally sign your application forms.
Click eSign button and proceed to the next step.
Step 18: Log in with your Google Account
Now you will be asked to log in with your Google account or any other account to receive an e-signed copy of your application forms.
Prefer using e-mail verification (instead of Google account verification) to avoid unintentional mistakes.
Step 19: Complete eSign
Check the declaration box and click on Proceed to eSign to proceed further.
Step 20: Enter your Aadhaar Number
Once again check the declaration box and enter your Aadhaar number.
Then, click on the ‘Send OTP’ button.
Make sure that the mobile number linked with your aadhaar is active in order to receive OTP.
Step 21: Enter Aadhaar OTP
Enter the OTP received and click on Sign now.
Please note that you will be asked to repeat the e-Sign process if you have opted for the Commodity Trading account.
Step 22: Complete Your Process
Click on ‘Finish’ to complete the process.
You can also download the e-Signed document to keep a copy of your signed application forms.
Once you have completed all the steps successfully, it will take around 24-48 hours for your account to be activated.
After your account has been successfully opened, you will receive a confirmation email with your login ID and a link to reset your Kite password.
